Decision tree on results morning
Grade 4 or above. The funding problem for that subject ends. Why grade 4 matters explains the DfE rule. Keep light tutoring only if A Level Maths or essay subjects still need the same skills.
Still a 3 (or below). Email the exams officer the same week about a June 2027 entry. Keep or book GCSE Maths or GCSE English tutoring from £14/hr so spring weeks attack the January paper leaks — not a generic workbook.
One mark from a 4. Ask the centre about a priority review of marking and Access to Scripts. Do not pause tutoring while you wait — a review is not a guarantee.
Do not wait until May
Summer 2027 GCSEs run from Monday 10 May to Tuesday 22 June (contingency Wednesday 23 June). AQA Maths Paper 1 is Friday 14 May morning. That is four months after January results — enough time if you start in January, not if you start after Easter mocks.

Should we request a review of marking after January results?
Nexus Academy does not lodge reviews of marking — that is the centre’s job against JCQ post-results deadlines. A review is worth discussing with the exams officer only when the student was a mark or two from a 4 and the script looks under-marked.
